Part puzzle, part game, part drum machine! Have fun with rhythm and learn to read core elements of standard notation fluently. Also useful for young learners of English as a foreign language, as it provides examples of stress patterns in UK English, improving accent.

This app introduces 7 common rhythm patterns that can be read and recognized. When we read ordinary text, we group the individual letters into words, and quickly become much more fluent than if we spelled out each letter. We can do this with rhythms too - and read common patterns much more quickly than if we worked out each beat.

Young children are very open to visual associations, and can learn to recognize standard notation by looking at the patterns as whole chunks. Complete beginners can have fun with rhythm patterns, reading from real notation, as a puzzle instead of a headache!
